Essential Information

A small peninsula home to some amazing beaches, cool cafés and some of the most exclusive properties in the country, Sandbanks Beach is probably the best south coast beach in England. The beach has held the European Blue Flag award for 30 years, making it one of the cleanest and safest in the country. And with fine golden sand and an easy gradient into the sea, it’s as close as you’ll get to an Instagram-perfect beach.

There’s a large car park near the beach and toilets, burger bars and ice cream stalls, as well as the popular Sandbanks Beach Café and a designated BBQ area. If you want to do more than sunbathing or checking out the multi-million-pound villas, there’s a crazy golf course, mini train and a range of watersports, including jet skis, kayaks and parascending. Like most of the beaches in and around Poole, dogs are banned from Sandbanks from May until the end of September.

Branksome Chine Beach
The furthest beach from the centre of Poole, Branksome Chine Beach is a sand and shingle affair with a popular promenade behind offering a wide range of shops, cafés, bars and beach huts. The beach has public toilets, a popular volleyball court and lifeguard cover during the summer, with the Branksome Beach restaurant and terrace offering the perfect place for lunch or a sundowner.

Shore Road Beach
If you’re into kitesurfing or windsurfing, Shore Road Beach is the one for you. You’ll find several companies who’ll hire equipment and arrange lessons, or you can sit back with an ice cream and watch them whirl and twirl away in the water. The closest beach to our Poole Centre hotel, the sand runs down towards Sandbanks and has lifeguard cover during the summer months.

Canford Cliffs Beach
Located between Shore Road and Branksome Chine, Canford Cliffs Beach is a gorgeous sprawl of sand backed by sandy cliffs and picture-perfect wooden huts. Probably the most relaxed beach in Poole, the wide, sandy beach is the perfect place to work on your tan or for a quiet walk, with plenty of toilets and ice cream kiosks nearby.
