Route must-do: Visit the 18th century Melingriffith Water Pump
The route: Starting off in Bute Park – near Cardiff’s Principality Stadium – you’ll cycle through scenic woodland and up along the River Taff. Once you’ve passed the Blackweir Fields, join National Cycle Route 8.
Following this path, you and the kids will pass through Hailey Park, and then residential Melingriffith. You’ll cycle by the Melingriffith Water Pump, a small but historic monument that’s worth pulling over for.
Continue on Route 8, parallel to the River Taff on your left; to your right will be the Forest Farm Country Park. Pass the Forest Farm Industrial Estate, and take the underpass on Iron Bridge Road beneath the A470.
