Entertainment in Walsall
Walsall FC
A professional football club currently based in League One, Walsall FC were founded in 1888 and have largely been an ever-present in the top tiers of English football. Despite that, they’ve never made it into the Premier League, with their best finish coming in 1962 when they came 14th in Division Two. ‘The Saddlers’, as they are affectionately nicknamed, have made it to Wembley in recent years when they were beaten 2-0 by Bristol City in the 2015 Football League Trophy final. Walsall have called the 11,000-capacity Bescot Stadium home since 1990. It is a five-minute drive from our Walsall Town Centre hotel to the south of the town centre. Handily, it’s also a short walk from the Bescot Train Station and easy to get to from the nearby M6. In fact, if you have ever driven past Walsall on the M6 then you will probably have seen it. There are five on-site bars at the ground as well as food and drink outlets at every corner of the stadium. The season runs from August until May, and games are usually played on Saturdays at 3pm.
Light Cinema Walsall
Forest Arts Centre
Light Cinema Walsall
A wonderfully modern cinema, Light Cinema Walsall is located near the Waterfront and Watford Canal in the centre of town. They’ve really gone to town on the extras: relax before the cinema in their café and bar lounge, take your beer or wine into the cinema with you and grab a free soft drink and popcorn refill, while the main foyer has one of the largest Pick’n’Mix collections we’ve seen. This isn’t your ordinary cinema complex, and it’s all the better for it. Once you have made your way in, there are nine screens to choose from, all showing the latest Hollywood action, with plenty of super-comfy seats to choose from.
