Shopping in Truro

The cosy city centre of Truro is one of the best shopping destinations in Cornwall. As you wander around, almost every street presents a mixture of independent and high street shops. Some of the more recognisable stores you’ll come across are Debenhams, Joules, Schuh and White Stuff. The most popular shopping streets in the city include River Street, Boscawen Street and King Street, all within a short stroll of each other.

Pannier Market

Although most shops are spread out around the city centre, there are two fabulous markets which we recommend you pay a visit to when staying at our Truro hotel. The first one is Pannier Market on Back Quay. This surprisingly spacious building was once used to build Spitfire wings during the war. However, it is now home to 35 independent shops offering a wide range of products such as jewellery, clothing, art & crafts and music. There is also a very popular café called The Filling Station, where you can take a pit stop and grab a drink and a light snack.

The Pannier is open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm every week. There are no parking spaces, however, there are three Pay & Display car parks just a short distance away.

Lemon Street Market

Our second recommendation is Lemon Street Market on – you guessed it – Lemon Street. This contemporary shopping venue hosts a small selection of brilliant shops, including a liquor store, a home furnishing retailer, a fashion boutique and an eco-friendly ‘Refill Store’, where you can bring your own bags and bottles to pick up a range of cosmetics and toiletries.

The shops aren’t the only things which add to Lemon Street’s vibrant atmosphere. You can also enjoy Fig Café, mentioned in our guide to places to eat in Truro. Afterwards, take a look at the Atrium Gallery, a modern art space featuring paintings, sculptures and furnishings, some of which are available to buy.

Lemon Street Market is open every Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm. There is some on-street parking outside, but the nearby Moorfield Multi-Storey Car Park is the best spot to park if you are looking to stay in the city for a few hours.
