It’s not usually a compliment to say that a town is stuck in the past, but Tewkesbury – with its beautiful medieval, Tudor buildings and the sublime Tewkesbury Abbey – is one of the exceptions. Wander its streets, and it can feel like you’ve magically stepped back in time. But for all its age and splendour, stay with us at our Tewkesbury hotel, and you’ll see that the town’s old-world charm is balanced with an on-point food scene, some excellent pubs and some first-class entertainment options as well.

If you’re on the hunt for homeware, you need to make your way to Tewkesbury Retail Park, where the Malt House Emporium is a firm favourite.
Getting Around
Tewkesbury town centre is tiny, so it’s pretty easy to wander your way up and down the High Street and Church Street to tick off the vast majority of our local guide’s recommendations. If on the off chance you’re bringing your bicycle to Tewkesbury, the town has exceptional bicycle paths. In fact, 1 in 10 people commute by bike in the town. If you’re thinking of travelling by train, you’ll arrive into Ashchurch for Tewkesbury Railway Station on the outskirts of town. The station is served by Great Western and is situated on the Cross Country Route, meaning it’s well connected with the four corners of the country.
