Restaurants

When it comes to exceptional Indian flavours, few restaurants can compete with the spice juggernaut that is Akbar’s. Located on Meadow Bank Road, this restaurant serves up a selection of classic recipes alongside some tongue-tingling specialities, with a range of spice levels to suit everyone. Just make sure you’re plenty hungry before you order the family naan, as this freshly baked delight is truly gigantic.

Another contender for the top Indian eatery in Rotherham is La Pondicherry. With more than 15 years of experience, this family-run restaurant knows how to tantalise a taste bud or two. The extensive menu features over 300 different authentic dishes, with locally sourced produce and European twists to ensure you keep coming back for more.

If it’s Mediterranean flavours that you’re craving, then make your way to Goodfellas Italian Restaurant, which can be found just across the river from the AESSEAL New York Stadium, home to Rotherham United. Don’t be fooled by its rather unassuming exterior: this intimate little eatery serves some of the best slices you’ll find in South Yorkshire.

Pasta, pizza and perfectly executed Italian classics are also the order of the day at E’Lupo’s on Effingham Street. You can expect an unfussy setting, with traditional dishes and warm, welcoming service at this family-run restaurant which boasts 30 years of experience.

Calling all carnivores: Elif Turkish Barbecue Restaurant is the place to be if nothing but mammoth mezes and sizzling skewers will do. The food is bursting with flavour, the staff are dedicated to ensuring you leave feeling full and happy, and it’s conveniently located less than a five-minute drive from our Rotherham hotel.

Cafés

Quaint and contemporary, The Garden Room Café is the ideal place for breakfast, brunch or some freshly brewed coffee served alongside a slab of cake. The award-winning café is a short drive east of Rotherham in the village of Braithwell and is more than worth the trip thanks to their unpretentious dishes made from locally sourced produce.

If you’re doing some shopping on the High Street and need to refuel with some continental sweet treats, then drop into Miele Delicatessen. It’s the only place in Rotherham to get your fill of flavourful antipasti, with more cured meats, crusty bread and delicious dips than you could shake a salami at.

Scarlett’s Coffee Bar & Deli is another fantastic place to get your caffeine and cake fix. There’s a huge selection of sandwiches and the cakes are sublime. Similarly, The Marmalade Hut in Dalton offers satisfying savouries, hearty bakes and warming beverages that really hit the spot.
