Restaurants

Literally on your doorstep if you’re staying at our Redditch North hotel, the Beefeater Redditch North restaurant is one of the highest-ranked eateries in town on Tripadvisor. With fantastic service, a large menu covering breakfast, lunch and dinner options and plenty of meal deals including free kids breakfasts, it’s a great value restaurant and literally a minute’s walk from your hotel door.

Heading into Redditch, there are several excellent Indian restaurants. The Champagne Express Indian is based in the heart of Redditch a short walk from the train station and the Kingfisher Shopping Centre. The restaurant has been serving up a fusion of Bangladeshi and Indian flavours for nearly a decade and while they’re currently unlicensed, you can bring your own alcoholic drinks for a corkage fee.

Alternatively, head to Rilys Indian Restaurant near the Palace Theatre. Another local favourite, the more modern and arty restaurant takes a Western approach to Indian food, blending delicate mixes of spices and flavours with first-class service and a sparse and stylish interior decked out with white walls, black floors and art deco pieces.

If Italian flavours are your thing, you can’t go wrong with a trip to La Piccola Italia on Alcester Street. With hand-made pizzas, a classic wine selection, attentive service and a stylish wooden interior and large, buzzy bar, it’s the perfect place for a romantic meal or an affordable family get together.

With its all-you-can-eat buffet, The Red Chamber is a great option if you’re watching your budget – but perhaps not so much if you’re watching your weight. With an endless parade of crispy wontons, spring rolls and prawn toast, it’s a popular choice for hungry locals and visitors alike.

Heading out of Redditch, The Forest at Feckenham is maybe the most up-market pub restaurant in the area. A mix of English and French flavours, the small but perfectly formed menu also includes plenty of vegan and vegetarian options and there’s also a kids menu and – our favourite – a dessert menu including scoops of their own hand-churned ice cream.

Cafés

If your idea of a good café is judged on the size of the cake collection, you’ll like Redditch. Muffin Break Redditch in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre is perfect for a post-shopping pick-me-up, with a huge range of muffins covering the traditional (double chocolate) and several more adventurous flavours like Mars Bar & caramel, lemon cream cheese and raspberry and white chocolate. With fresh tea and coffee, plus a range of sandwiches, quiches and wraps, there’s plenty of choice for those without a sweet tooth.

If you like your sweet treats a little more refined, Rachel’s Cupcakes is well worth a visit. The bespoke cakes, doughnuts and cupcakes taste just as good as they look and are open 10am-4pm Tuesday to Saturday on the eastern edge of Redditch.

For something a little more substantial, the Real Nosh Cafe is nearby in the Lakeside Industrial Estate. An odd location, perhaps, but the food is worth the drive across town with a simple but highly effective menu covering hearty breakfasts, big baps, chips chunky enough to act as doorstops and free coffee and tea refills. No frills food at its best.

Victoria Plum’s Cafe is the place to come in Redditch if you’re craving afternoon tea delivered in fine china with a mountain of cakes and posh sandwiches to work through. Open for breakfast, drinks, lunch and afternoon tea, the upmarket tea room is just a short distance south of the centre of Redditch.

Thanks to its location in the Botany Bay Garden Centre and Nursery, The Bay Cafe is a dog-friendly green oasis known for its Big Bay breakfast, homemade cakes and excellent coffee. Housed in a rustic converted barn, the outdoor patio is perfect for summer while the homely interiors and gently wafting smells from the kitchen make for a very relaxing setting.
