With over 350 acres of woodland, nature trails and play areas, Wellington Country Park is a fun-filled day out for all the family.
Opened in 1974, the park will keep your little ones entertained for weeks. There are adventure playgrounds for toddlers, and older kids, including zip wires as well as an Animal Farm, packed full of ponies, donkeys, rabbits, pigs and goats. The animals can all be fed and there are regular petting sessions.
More adventurous children will love the jumping pillow – a colourful mini trampoline park – while in sunnier weather, the sand pits, water play areas and diggers make for a great morning or afternoon of fun. There’s also mini golf, a summer splash zone, a miniature railway, an indoor soft play arena and motorised mini jeeps that do laps of a woodland track. In short, your kids will be tired out after a full day of fun.
There’s plenty for the adults to enjoy, too. There are four designated nature trails, ranging upto 3km, and miles of paths to explore for dog walkers.
The park also put on regular seasonal events ranging from Easter egg hunts, circus skills, puppet theatre, pirate and mermaid weekends and more – make sure you check in advance to find out what’s on.
There are plenty of eating and drinking spots across the park too, including an ice cream hut and a BBQ zone. The park is open from February to October and from 9.30am to 5.30pm, with high season passes running from the end of March to the middle of September. Children under two go free, with family tickets also available.
