Theatre
If you want to see a show during your stay in Peterborough, we have a couple of theatres to recommend to you. First off is the Key Theatre, it sits on the banks of the River Nene and seats an audience of 360 for shows ranging from drama to music to pantomimes and comedy acts. It’s not the biggest theatre in the world, but there isn’t a bad seat in the house and the location’s excellent, well within walking distance of plenty of great places to eat in Peterborough perfect for a pre-theatre meal.
Your other option is The Cresset, which was opened by the Queen in 1978. It’s a multi-purpose arts venue which plays host to a far-reaching programme of music, comedy, theatre and family shows. You’ll find it in Bretton, which is just outside the city centre. Nevertheless, it’s easily accessible and less than a ten-minute drive from our Peterborough North hotel.

Sport
As far as sporting entertainment goes, one of the most popular options is to pay a visit to the ABAX Stadium to see ‘The Posh’ play their home games. Peterborough United are the city’s only professional football team. While they’ve never played in the top flight of the Football League, and don’t have any major honours to their name, don’t let that put you off. Any away fans looking to stay over in the city will find that our Peterborough (Hampton) hotel is closest and most conveniently located to the Stadium.
Alternatively, you can enjoy an evening at the races by popping over to the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium in Fengate. It’s open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with different race night packages available if you want to up the ante and enjoy a bit of glitz and glamour in the greyhounds grandstand.
To round off the sporting action, fans of speedway can see the Peterborough Panthers at the East of England Showground, while the city’s ice hockey team, the Peterborough Phantoms, play at the Planet Ice Peterborough Arena.
East of England Arena
Last of all, let’s talk about the East of England Showground, home of the East of England Arena and Events Centre. As we’ve mentioned, it’s the place to be if you want to see some speedway. But that’s not all; the East of England Showground offers 250 acres of green space and a 9,000 square metre arena all with 22,000 parking spaces and the capacity for 100,000 visitors. With all of that real estate, you could pretty much host whatever you like at the showground. The thing is, the East of England Showground has hosted pretty much everything, so nothing comes as a surprise. Along with car boot sales, trade fairs and agricultural shows, it’s welcomed motoring festivals, music concerts and much, much more. Best of all? It’s just a couple of minutes’ drive from our Peterborough (Ferry Meadows) hotel.
