Home to historic pubs, gastropubs, cool bars and some late night clubs, Perth’s nightlife is lively all year round.
Nightlife in Perth
Pubs
Dating back to 1685, there are few more historic pubs to sink a pint in than the Old Ship Inn. With plenty of nautical items dotted around the pub – look out for their handy guide to sea knots, a collection of steering wheels and lookout portals – the pub has a cracking range of ales, beers, whiskies and wines. Plus, with live sports, in-house dominos and a cosy atmosphere, it’s one of Perth’s best pubs.
Located on the bustling South Street, The Tavern is a cosy leather and dark wood pub perfect for long cold winter nights (and there are a few of those in Perth). They have one of the best drink selections in town, spanning craft ales, boutique gins and – naturally – a large whisky collection. They also do a good range of pub grub classics.
On the western edge of Perth, near the St. Johnstone stadium, is The Glover Arms, a popular vintage pub that prides itself on its food. Book ahead for your Sunday roast or pop in for their pie night or their weekend treat menu which includes a bottle of wine for two.

Bars
Part-bistro, part-cocktail bar, The Bothy is a great place to eat and drink the night away. Located on Kinnoull Street in the heart of Perth, they offer up a brunch, lunch and dinner menu, including a popular pre-theatre range, while they also do a mean afternoon tea and excellent cocktails.
With a stylish dark wooden interior and a well-stocked bar which includes whisky, craft and cask ale, cocktails and a decent wine menu, The Caledonian is a perennial favourite in Perth and handily located just off the main High Street. Another popular staple is the Greyfriars Bar. Compact, packed with cask ales and whiskies, and with a jukebox keeping the atmosphere lively, the South Street bar is a great place to hide from the cold during winter or to grab something long and cold during summer.
With live music every night and over 200 drinks to choose from, The Green Room on Canal Crescent has quickly become a local favourite since launching in 2017. A haven for music lovers, expect local tribute acts, cover bands and touring talent spanning jazz, funk, pop, rock and indie.
Clubs
Late night cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow might be an hour away, but there are plenty of bustling dancing options right in Perth. Open every Friday and Saturday night, The Ice Factory has been at the forefront of Perth’s nightlife scene for nearly three decades, putting on a wide range of events. These largely span cool underground dance music, as well as more commercial sounds. The stylish 1,250-capacity club is located on the southern edge of the Perth on Shore Road, a five-minute walk from our Perth City Centre hotel.
A converted Gospel hall, the Loft Nightclub is handily located on South Street, with the nearby That Bar offering the perfect spot for pre-club drinks. With six bars and impressive LED lighting throughout, the Loft is open Wednesday to Sunday and with a fun, sometimes cheesy soundtrack, guaranteed to have a busy dancefloor.
