Paignton Pubs and Bars

A true Paignton institution, Henry’s Bar is located near the main Esplanade and close to the Palace Theatre, and offers everything from real ales, cocktails, pub-grub classics and a warm and lively atmosphere. Food is served daily until 9pm, while the pub is often rocking until midnight at the weekends.

Nearby you’ll find Grand Central, another strong all-rounder that’s a buzzing café by day and a stylish bar by night. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the bar comes into its own in the evenings, screening all the big-sporting action with a wide range of drinks available from behind the bar.

It the sun is shining, there are few better places to be than on the terrace at the Boathouse Bar & Grill overlooking the beach and the English channel. A popular spot, they have a great selection of wine, guest ales, lagers, ciders and cocktails as well as regular live music sessions from local bands.

Peaky Blinders on Winner Street opposite the Palace Theatre, is one of the coolest alternative bars in Paignton. With vintage wooden furniture, a piano in the corner and bar staff decked out in tweeds and flat caps, it’s a stylish bar that revels in early 20th-century history but with a cutting-edge event line up spanning regular live music, quizzes and theme nights. Handily, it’s also one of the closest bars to our Paignton Seafront hotel.

Another popular throwback bar is the Lucky 7 Club, a speakeasy bar and club famous for its live music, cabaret and burlesque entertainment. With a brilliantly vintage music policy – think jazz, funk and swing – and regular weekend events including gin-tasting sessions, theatrical productions and shows, it’s one of the most interesting bars and clubs in Paignton and well worth a visit if you’re looking for something a little different.
