Clubs

Be it cabaret nights, reggae throwdowns, cutting-edge dance music or live gigs from up-and-coming bands, there’s a wide variety of fun to be had in Northampton after dark.

With an illustrious history stretching back 30 years, and previous guests including Radiohead, Metallica and Oasis, Roadmender is one of the best known East Midlands clubs. A driving force in music for two decades, it was forced to close in 2005, but has now reopened and once again, it’s a music and cultural hub, hosting touring bands, acts and comedians including The Happy Mondays, The Undertones and reggae legend David Rodigan.

Want a club with mirrored walls and a light-up disco dance floor? Well, obviously you do, which is why you’re heading to Fever & Boutique; a relatively new addition to Northampton’s nightlife scene. Open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, the venue is split into two rooms – one with the aforementioned Saturday Night Fever-style dance floor – playing a mix of commercial, party and R&B hits. With competitive drink deals and stylish decor, it’s been a mainstay in Northampton since opening in 2016.

Another new arrival to Northampton’s clubbing scene is Shoko, only five minutes’ walk from our Town Centre hotel. A late night bar that doubles up as a club at weekends, the Bridge Street spot covers most bases with a large cocktail bar, dedicated dance floor and extensive smoking area. Serving an impressive range of cocktails, champagnes and beers, wines and spirits, grab one of their spiralling booths, sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and crowd-friendly DJs.

Bars

From ultra cool cocktail bars to tried-and-tested chain bars offering dozens of vodka varieties, there’s something for everyone in Northampton.

Offering six – six! – different cocktail menus, Revolution Northampton is No. 1 when it comes to mixed drinks in town. Not only that, but they offer nightly food and drink deals, including two-for-one cocktails 5pm–7pm and an enticing food menu, including favourites like slow-cooked BBQ ribs and the calorific Pulled Beef Denver Bacon Fries.

If you’re still searching for cocktails, then Sazerac, a boutique cocktail bar in the heart of the St. Giles Quarter, will delight with bespoke creations, cocktail masterclass sessions and, thanks to its private booths and dim lighting, a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. If the Dutch courage works its wonders and gets you in the mood, you can retire to the Back Room Club for a spot of karaoke, including waiter service and a state-of-the-art Bose sound system.

Part piano lounge, part cocktail bar and part champagne specialist, Corkers Champagne and Cocktail Bar is the place to go if you’re in a celebratory mood. With dozens of champagnes and champagne-based cocktails, Corkers is a sleek, modern bar in thrall to the fizzy French stuff, making it the perfect pre- or post-drinking spot after you’ve eaten at the adjoining Mem-Saab Indian restaurant.
