Where to go

Head to our dedicated Newport outdoor activities page to find out more about the Transporter BridgeNewport Wetlands, the Walnut Tree Farm Park and the city’s golf club.

Filmgoers are spoilt for choice in Newport. There are two Cineworld chains in and around the city. Newport Retail Park Cineworld is home to a 13-screen complex, two licensed bars and thousands of free car parking spaces, and is three miles from our Newport Wales (M4, J24) hotel.

At Friars Walk Cineworld you’ll find a huge complex with 21 screens, state-of-the-art surround sound and dozens of bars, cafés and restaurants nearby.

Alternatively, support the local independent scene and head to the Riverfront Arts Centre where they have several screenings every week in their modern theatre. While, if bingo is your game, you’re in luck as the Castle Bingo near Kingsway Shopping Centre runs daily from midday, with prizes up to £3,000 up for grabs for eagle-eyed dabbers.

For something a little more adrenaline-fuelled, head to the Energi Trampoline Park, which is right next door to the Newport Retail Park Cineworld. Open daily, the warehouse is filled with wall-to-wall trampolines, airbags, basketball hoops, dodgeball arenas, cardio walls, foam pits and even a ninja assault course to fully test out your parkour skills. There are also dedicated baby and toddler sessions, as well as more upbeat party sessions with loud music and flashing lights.

With speeds of up to 45 mph and multi-level action, the Supakart go-kart track in Newport is one of the fastest tracks in Wales and the west of England. With banked turns, an outdoor section, a wide track perfect for overtaking, hairpin bends and 200cc karts, the track has been providing Newport’s thrills and spills for over 20 years. Sessions start from 15 minutes, with the only requirement being you need to be above 5ft tall to race.
