Live music bars
You can also take in live music in more informal settings at some of the city’s bars and pubs. Munich is home to various less well-known artists and bands with a fresh sound. Antons in the south of the city is a good bet for live music, while fans of rock music will be right at home at Schwabinger Podium. The Glockenbachwerkstatt is another venue worth a visit.

Oktoberfest

Culinary delights
Oktoberfest is renowned for exceptional beer and delicious Bavarian cuisine. The festival marquees exclusively serve beer from Munich breweries in traditional one-litre glass tankards called “Masskrüge”. There’s also plenty of local specialities to try, such as veal sausage and roast chicken. Ever lifted 10 litres of beer at once? No? Well, the Oktoberfest waiting staff’s strength is legendary.

Thrilling carnival rides
Of course, the world’s biggest folk festival wouldn’t be complete without classic carnival rides. The Wiesn – as the festival’s location is commonly known – has plenty to entertain visitors, from a carousel to a drop tower and even a ghost train. The big wheel is always a popular attraction, providing a wonderful view over the city and the festival.

Traditional music
Oktoberfest in Munich wouldn’t be nearly as much fun without the music. The beer tents on the Wiesn play host to countless solo artists and bands, who make sure that the party vibe flows throughout the tents and the stages during the festival. “Schlager” hits and oompah classics whip the crowds into a frenzy year after year, ensuring that the festivities go with a bang.
