History of the cinch Championships
Its name and size may have changed over the years, but this iconic tournament actually dates back to 1887! Originally, the event was hosted at the now famous Stamford Bridge before moving to The Queen’s Club London from 1890 and becoming the Queen's Club Championships. As well as its famous tennis tournament, this West Kensington venue has hosted other historic sporting events including football matches, Olympic events and even battles between Oxford and Cambridge. Since then, the cinch Championships has grown to become one of the longest-running events on the ATP World Tour, and has seen icons such as John McEnroe, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray play.
