Sports
While it’s slim pickings in terms of watching any live sports during your stay in Knutsford – beyond heading further afield to the footballing giants of Liverpool and Manchester – there are plenty of options when it comes to playing sports.
The Knutsford Sports Club is a community sports club on Mereheath Lane, which is home to the Knutsford Cricket Club and also has more than half a dozen all-weather tennis courts and two glass-back squash courts for you racket-sport enthusiasts. For those of you who fancy trying something new, it also has an archery centre that caters to everyone from beginners to masters of bowmanship.
Lastly, if you fancy yourself in a round of golf, there are several excellent golf courses nearby for you to try. Heyrose Golf Club is among the best in Cheshire. The greens are beautifully maintained, the course is home to ancient woodlands and there are some particularly challenging holes towards the lower end of the stroke index. High Legh Park Golf Club is just as near and even more popular. It’s home to two golf courses, a floodlit driving range and the American Golf Academy. It means it’s an excellent option for all ages and abilities and among the most reasonably priced options available in Cheshire. The Knutsford Golf Course is your closest and most convenient option. It’s a beautiful nine-hole course that overlooks the Tatton Park estate, which is ideal if you’re short on time.
Of course, there’s also The Mere Golf Resort & Spa. This championship course is stunning and challenging in equal measure. The 150 acres of Cheshire parkland and ancient woodlands are set next to the glorious Mere Lake, offering as picturesque a place for a round of golf as you’re likely to find in the county. It’s also home to a first-class spa and a floating driving range.

Theatre
Knutsford Little Theatre
If you fancy seeing a show during your stay in Knutsford, the Knutsford Little Theatre is a tiny amateur operation on Queen Street that packs a serious punch in terms of the quality of its productions. You can catch up to seven productions a year from the am-dram society that was formed way back in 1925. The tiny, tiered auditorium can only seat 100 people, but that’s part of the charm of the Knutsford Little Theatre. Take a look at what’s on during your stay and book your tickets in advance – obviously, with so few tickets to sell, they can go pretty quickly.
Music
Music lovers have a couple of popular options in Knutsford. But our top recommendation is The Botanist. The stylish chain bar has an excellent spot on King Street and live music every night from Thursday to Saturday. Their local artists play pop hits through the night, which makes for easy listening while you enjoy something from their excellent cocktail menu. It’s a popular spot, especially on the weekend, which we could have squeezed into our jam-packed page on pubs in Knutsford.
