Shopping

Kettering is well-known for its Charter Market, which takes to the pedestrianised High Street on Friday and Saturday with stalls offering everything under the sun. The Flea Market comes to town on Wednesday with its myriad antiques, second-hand stuff and collectables. If you fancy a proper shopping spree, the Newlands Shopping Centre is Kettering’s main shopping centre. It spans several pedestrianised streets and is home to fashion favourites like TK Maxx and H&M. If you’re on the hunt for independent shops and boutiques, make your way to the Cultural Quarter and The Yards, which is home to some 50 businesses ranging from bars and restaurants through to shops selling homeware, jewellery, fashion and even skateboards. The nearby Kettering Retail Park is where you’ll find large outlets for Laura Ashley and Next, as well as popular fast-food outlets.

Getting Around

Kettering has good transport links, with the A14 nearby connecting you with the A45, M1 and M6. The A43 will get you to Northampton in just half an hour. You’ll find the new Kettering Bus Interchange in the Horse Market. If you’re travelling by rail, Kettering Train Station is south west of the town centre. It’s a station on the Midlands Main Line, which links London St Pancras with Sheffield and means you can catch direct trains to most of the UK’s major stations. Trains to the capital run every half hour and take little over an hour. Lastly, if you need to catch a taxi during your stay, there are several local Kettering taxi providers, Premier Taxis and ACE Taxis being two popular choices.
