Nestling in the scenic surroundings of the Chiltern Hills, High Wycombe is a historic town which combines metropolitan sophistication with olde worlde charm. Considering how close it is to the M25, London’s orbital motorway, it retains much of its rural appeal, particularly in nearby picture-book villages like Turville, where scenes for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang were filmed. Our two High Wycombe hotels give fantastic access to High Wycombe itself and nearby attractions such as the National Trust gem Hughenden Manor are and the museum which celebrates the life and works of the incomparable Roald Dahl. If you are planning to visit High Wycombe, this guide gives you the low-down on the best places to dine, drink, sightsee, shop and take in some of the town’s best entertainment.

Sophisticated eateries offering flavours from South India, Italy and elsewhere are the order of the day in High Wycombe. The town also offers a smoky BBQ taste of the American diner and has more places offering traditional British pub grub than you can shake a steak at.
Nightlife
Few areas of the UK can boast such a plethora of top-notch country pubs as High Wycombe. Within a few minutes’ drive, you can be enjoying a foaming pint of real ale with splendid views of the Chilterns - and the town centre boasts a contemporary edge with modern craft beer and cocktail bars.
Shopping
High Wycombe is a still a busy market town with market days on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays but shopping in the town is very much dominated these days by the popular Eden centre, which is easily visited from our High Wycombe central hotel, has more than 100 stores and regularly attracts over 350,000 visitors per week. It was first opened in 2008 in a bid to create a shopping experience capable of competing with other major regional shopping centres in towns such as Slough, Reading, Watford and Milton Keynes. It houses countless big-name retail brands from Next, Waterstones and Marks and Spencer to Zara, TK Maxx and Boots.
