Despite Hemel Hempstead being one of Britain’s post-WWII new towns, it has heaps more history than you might expect. The Hertfordshire town dates back to the 8th century and has given the world famous names like Roger Moore and Pigwidgeon – the famous fictional owl of Harry Potter celebre. Stay with us at one of our Hemel Hempstead hotels, and you’ll have the perfect base to delve into the town’s diverse food scene, sample some of its super days out and sip on a shandy or two in one of Hemel’s top canalside pubs.

Hemel is home to a fab blend of extreme sports, peaceful parks, a Buddhist monastery and an artisan vineyard. So whether you want to go skiing on London’s closest real snow slope or simply fancy sitting in the sun and sipping a fresh sauvignon blanc, the choice is yours.
Shopping
The Marlowes Shopping Centre is the town’s original retail hub. It’s just off the Marlowes, right in the heart of town, and home to heaps of popular shops including River Island, M&S, and JD Sports.
