On the surface, Grantham looks like a lovely Lincolnshire town with little to do in terms of entertainment. You know what they say, don’t judge a book by its cover. Although, in this case, first impressions tend to be correct. You won’t find a wealth of entertainment options here in Grantham, you’d be better off catching the train or driving to sample some of our favourite Nottingham entertainment options, or even making the trip to explore the Lincoln entertainment scene. Nevertheless, if you’re craving some sport, you can check out Grantham Town FC. On top of that, we do have the Guildhall Arts Centre, which continues to impress when it comes to theatre, comedy and music.
Entertainment in Grantham
Grantham Town FC
Grantham has a history of producing more studious than sporty people, perhaps that’s why – when it comes to sporting entertainment – your best option is non-league Grantham Town Football Club. If you want to see a home game during your stay then make your way down to the South Kesteven Sports Stadium on Trent Road. Away fans will be happy to hear our Grantham hotel is just a mile away, so you can walk there in twenty minutes, or drive in less than five. Despite the fact they’ve never played in the Football League, ‘The Gingerbreads’ were founded in 1874, which manes they’ve been around for longer than most clubs in the UK. Tickets aren’t much more than a tenner, juniors are less than a fiver, and under 13s get in for free.

Guildhall Arts Centre
There’s an iconic building in the heart of Grantham that used to be the town hall, then the jail, then the sessions hall, but has now become the Guildhall Arts Centre. It’s a community art centre that curates an excellent, diverse programme of shows and events for the people of Grantham. Primarily, it books professional touring shows to perform in the venue’s excellent theatre. Grantham’s burgeoning amateur scene is also seeing more and more local amateur groups hire the venue for their own productions, while there’s also an annual Christmas pantomime that’s always popular and performed to a very high standard.
In between professional and amateur dramatics you’ll see an ever-changing selection of comedy, dance, cinema, music, workshops and community activities for people of all ages, abilities and interests. One of the most popular nights of the month is the Grantham Guildhall Comedy Club, run by Funhouse – one of the most prolific and popular comedy event organisers in the country. The comedy club takes place on the last Thursday of every month, bringing some of the biggest names in British comedy to the beautiful Guildhall Ballroom. Past shows have had household names such as Sarah Millican, Rhod Gilbert and Kevin Bridges taking to the stage, with audiences rolling in the aisles. Tickets have been known to sell out fast, so plan ahead and see what’s on during your stay at our Grantham hotel.
