When it comes to finding somewhere to eat in Elgin, there’s a wide range of restaurants available serving up sublime cuisine from all around the world. So no matter what you’re craving, there’ll be an eatery nearby to satisfy your appetite. Curry fans will be particularly chuffed with the excellent array of Indian restaurants on hand with spice levels soaring from standard kormas to some fiery phaals.

Let’s begin with Qismat Tandoori, the tasty tandoori restaurant on the High Street. It’s simple, the staff are polite and professional, portions are large and prices are reasonable. Alternatively, try Spice Tandoori on Moss Street. It’s housed in a converted church, which makes for a dramatic setting for a curry supper. The food’s authentic, flavoursome and cooked fresh to order. Your third Indian restaurant option is Akash Tandoori on South Street. It’s another good all-rounder, and the service is particularly excellent.

If you fancy a taste of the Orient, Pattaya Thai Restaurant is an authentic Thai restaurant on the High Street offering an exciting alternative option for an evening’s meal. The food is fresh and fragrant. We recommend the moo pad kraprow for spice fans or the weeping tiger if you usually get a steak.

Speaking of steaks, The Barn Steakhouse & Grill is a hidden gem of a steakhouse in the nearby village of Lhanbryde. It’s less than a 10-minute drive from our Elgin hotel and well worth the mileage for some of the best steaks, burgers and Sunday roasts in the region. The drinks selection is top-class too!

Take your taste buds on a trip to the Mediterranean by visiting either Scribbles on the High Street or Pizzeria Toscana on Thunderton Place. Both are brilliant Italian restaurants with some of the tastiest pizzas and authentic Italian food in town. Pizzeria Toscana is slightly more traditional, making it a good choice for date night or a special occasion.

Last but by no means least, Ada Turkish Restaurant on South Street is stylish, delicious and probably the best restaurant in Elgin. It’s certainly our favourite. The jumbo prawns are absolutely delicious, the mixed grill is a monster meal of mighty-fine authentic Turkish food and the baklava is brilliant – make sure you save room to enjoy some for dessert.

It’s ideal if you have dietary requirements, offering a good selection of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free food.

A proper bargain Elgin eatery is Miriam’s Tea Room & Coffee House on South Street. It’s simple, it’s cheap, the food is good and the staff are as friendly and welcoming as they get. The Ditsy Teacup is a twee tearoom on Thunderton Place and serves some of the best cakes and sweet treats in town. The homemade scones are especially delicious.
