Things to do in Ealing

Once a village on the edge of London, Ealing was swallowed up in the 20th-century urban sprawl, becoming part of Greater London in 1965. Surprisingly, the community spirit lives on with much of the action centred around Ealing Broadway, Walpole Park and Ealing Common, each area alive with shops, bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants. There’s plenty to see and do in the area as well, with everything from zoos, inner-city fishing lakes, transport museums and historic Sikh temples. And, of course, Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena are just a short taxi or Underground ride from our London Ealing hotel, meaning you’re only ever 10-minutes from some of the biggest sporting and musical events that the UK has to offer.

Shopping

Dating as far back as the 17th century, Southall Market is a west London institution, now known for its popular Wednesday, Friday and Saturday markets where you can pick up everything from jewellery and homewares to vintage furniture and fresh fish. The market is a short walk from Southall Train Station and a few miles from Ealing town centre.

If that’s not enough market action for you, Ealing Farmers Market runs every Saturday morning from 9am until 1pm next to Deans Gardens, selling fresh milk, artisan bread and a wide range of locally-sourced fruit and vegetables.

For a more modern retail experience, head to the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre. Just a few hundred metres along Uxbridge Road from our Ealing hotel, the centre has nearly 100 shopping and food and drink outlets including Tesco, Waterstones, Primark, Next and H&M as well as independent retailers. The large, modern shopping centre is open 9am-7pm from Monday to Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday.

Getting Around

Ealing Broadway is the main travel hub in the region, covering both Underground and railway services. The inter-connected, one-level hub is on the District and Central Underground lines and as part of the Great Western Main Railway Line, with train connections to London Paddington, Acton and West Ealing.

The closest major airport is Heathrow. The busiest UK airport with over 1,000 flights each day, the airport is just 10 miles from Ealing, with the journey taking approximately 20-minutes by train or taxi and around 22 minutes via the South Ealing Underground station. Another travel option is to stay the night before you travel at one of our hotels near Heathrow.
