Shopping in Dundee
Shopping centres
Right in the heart of Dundee near the Tay Road Bridge, you’ll find Overgate Shopping Centre. Offering everything from women’s fashion and homeware to beauty and technology shops, it’s all about big-name brands here. Debenhams, Topshop, Smiggle and Superdry are just a few of the high street favourites you can expect to come across when you visit.
Built in the 1960s, the centre went through a huge redevelopment in 2000 and is now the only single-sided shopping centre in Europe. If your feet need a rest from all the retail therapy, there is plenty to occupy you here. With over 10 eateries to choose from, you can grab a coffee at Costa, a milkshake at Bibble Milkshake Bar or sit down for lunch at Five Guys or Frankie and Benny’s. Open seven days a week, Overgate has two multi-storey car parks and is just a 15-minute drive from our Dundee West hotel.
The other main shopping area in Dundee is Wellgate Shopping Centre, a three-level complex of shops and restaurants. Located off Victoria Road, just a 10-minute walk from Overgate, this is the place to come if you love a bargain. Home to discount stores such as Poundland, B&M, Home Bargains and Iceland, there is also a food court where you can pick up a reasonably priced lunch from Subway or McDonald’s.

Dundee Farmers' Market
Markets
Brought to Dundee after a highly successful run in Aberdeen is Dundee Ministry of Crafts. This monthly indoor arts and crafts market takes place in The Steeple Church – located right next to the Overgate Shopping Centre – on the last Saturday of every month between 11am and 4pm. Bringing together over 20 of Dundee’s most talented creators, this is the place to come for unique handmade gifts and trinkets bought direct from the maker. With a friendly vibe and some truly special products on show, this is a great way to see the most of what Dundee has to offer.
Just a three-minute walk from The Steeple Church is City Square, the home of Dundee Farmers’ Market. If you’re looking to take home some of Dundee’s best locally sourced food and drink, this is the place for you. Open on the third Saturday of the month, 9am-4pm, there’s something to suit all appetites here. If you like things hot, make sure you pay a visit to Allan’s Chilli Products where you can find some of the most delicious – and spicy – chilli jellies around. If you prefer your food a little sweeter, Dundee Cheesecakes will serve you up the finest handcrafted slice of New York-style cheesecake in the region.
