Nightlife in Cleethorpes
Pubs
A great place to start getting to know the Cleethorpes pub scene is the Smugglers, located on the seafront, close to the lifeboat and slipway. Known affectionately as ‘The Smuggs’, it's the only cellar bar in Cleethorpes and is popular with real ale drinkers, serving Marstons Pedigree or Jennings Cumberland as its resident hand-pulled beers and with guest ales including the likes of Boondoggle and Hobgoblin.
It’s usually a good sign when a pub is also a brewery - and that’s the case with Willy’s, which boasts spectacular views overlooking the Humber. It brews its own Willy's Original on the premises and is a popular spot for fans of real ale and real cider too - among the independent ciders regularly served are Moles Black Rat and Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon.
Another place with a great location is the Punch Bowl on the town's North Promenade overlooking the seafront. A family-run business, it regards itself very much as a gastropub but also has a reputation for well-kept real ale and a friendly atmosphere for holidaymakers and locals alike.
Rounding off our selection is The Grosvenor, just slightly out of town the other side of Cleethorpes Country Park. Regarded as one of the best-value pubs around for both food and drink, it is part of the Sizzling chain and as well as its range of beers, ciders and wines, the Grosvenor has its own gin parlour with flavours including violet, raspberry, and rhubarb and ginger.

Message in a Bottle Bar
Bars
Is it a bar? Is it a pub?: It’s hard to know how to categorise Message in a Bottle, which actually describes itself as a specialist bottle shop and weekend bar. A family-run specialist beer shop, it stocks hundreds of Lincolnshire ales and craft beers from the UK and all over the world. And at the weekends, it hosts a pop-up bar, for which it was named Pub Of The Season for summer 2018 by Grimsby and North East Lincolnshire CAMRA.
The People Bar and Kitchen on Cambridge Street isn't necessarily the kind of place you'd expect to find in Cleethorpes either - it's the epitome of urban chic, inspired by the vibe of cities like Leeds and Manchester and transferred to the seaside.
