With plenty of cobbled streets, historic facades, medieval shopping galleries and some impressive modern shopping centres, you could easily spend an entire day just browsing through the brilliant array of shops in Chester.

Shopping centres

We’ve rounded up our favourite Chester shopping centres – including Watergate Street, Chester Rows and the Grosvenor Shopping Centre – in our dedicated guide.

Markets
Open Monday to Saturday, Chester Indoor Market is a unique shopping experience – where else can you check out Lego exhibitions, haggle over antiques and watch the world go by from two excellent cafés? Antique hunters should head down on Tuesdays for their dedicated collectables day, while book and vinyl fans will love Bookingham Palace; a treasure trove of paperbacks and second-hand records. Honed over decades, the market is a great alternative to the cobbled high street, and is a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk from our Chester Central North hotel.
