First things first – if you’re in Bognor Regis, then seafood should be high on your list of priorities. And Bognor duly delivers. For a meal on the go, head to Ye Olde Fish & Chippe Shoppe in nearby Middleton-on-Sea. With over 80 years of frying history, they know how to get the batter nice and crispy and are open Tuesday to Saturday.

A step up from there is The Lobster Pot, a simple but very tasty seafood restaurant on the border between Felpham and Bognor Regis. Open for lunch and dinner, seafood takes precedence on the menu – including their celebrated local lobster – while they also do a range of pasta dishes, salads and starters.

Heading into the heart of Bognor Regis, the Sen Restaurant & Tapas Bar has been a mainstay on the eating out scene since 2001. Open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, the bar and restaurant does a wide range of sharing plates as well as an excellent cocktail and wine menu.

Head down High Street and you’ll find Cardamom Bay, one of the best Indian restaurants in Bognor Regis. A stylish, modern restaurant, you can choose from over 100 items and dine in at the candle-lit restaurant or alternatively get your food delivered.

Lastly, Mamma Mia is one of the best Italian experiences in town. A bright, glass-fronted restaurant a short walk from the beach, they dish up a wide range of traditional Italian dishes including homemade pizza, an array of antipasti and a selection of imported Italian beers and wines.

Cafés

With its beaches and seaside air, Bognor Regis is tailor made for café life, and fittingly there are some excellent coffee shops in town. On the Esplanade near the Bandstand is Coffee Cup Bognor Regis, a south coast institution that’s grown from a beachside Portsmouth pop up to a chain of coffee shops across the region. As well as a wide range of tea and coffee, they serve delicious milkshakes and fruit juices as well as breakfast, lunch and snack options.

Another excellent beach-side option is the Pagham Beach Café. Stylish and very retro right down to the Formica tables, the licensed café is perfect for a quick snack or a longer lunch, with plenty of rock’n’roll memorabilia to keep you entertained throughout the venue.

Another top pick in Bognor Regis is Carlyle’s Café & Restaurant, a cosy café and restaurant open for breakfast and lunch known for their homemade cakes and pies and an impressive range of tea and coffee.

Up towards the Train Station is Syrup Café, a traditional English-style café that serves up big breakfasts, sandwiches, wraps, salads, burgers and more. If you’ve got your eyes on the pies, however, you’ll want to try out Turner’s Pies nearby just off Linden Road. A local institution since 1933, they do a wide range of sweet and savoury pies and you can even click and collect if you’re in a rush.

If you like a cuppa with a view, then the Hotham Park Café is hard to beat. Located in the green grounds of Hotham Park a short walk from the train station, the café is open daily from 8am serving up home-cooked breakfast and lunch, with an Italian-themed main menu starting from 5pm. The park café is also perfect for a quick drink and snack, with hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes to choose from.
