Restaurants

If you’re in the mood for celebrating, there are few finer places than the Glasshouse Restaurant. Housed in a stunning glasshouse that makes the most of the country views, the restaurant only uses local produce that was grown or sourced from a 50-mile radius meaning the food is as fresh as it gets, while they also grow their own range of fruit, veg and herbs. An elegant and sophisticated dining room experience, the set-menus offer great value for money.

For something much more informal, head to Coal, a busy and buzzy bar and grill next to Festival Place. With a large terrace, it’s a great summer hang out with a food menu spanning breakfast, lunch and dinner and an excellent cocktail selection with regular drink deals.

For something a little spicier, head to The Red Rose Tandoori. Located south-west of the town centre off Pack Lane, this place is one of the leading curry restaurants in the region, serving up a lip-smacking mix of classic Indian and Bangladeshi dishes.

The Lime Leaf, a short walk from Festival Place, is a quality Thai restaurant. Spread over two floors and with a lively decor including bamboo-print wallpaper and potted palms, they serve up the best pad thai in town and also offer vegan and gluten-free menus as well as a great-value-for-money early bird menu.

Alternatively, try the Mayflower Restaurant a short walk away. A pan-Asian venue with a modern interior, they offer fixed price set menus and a popular all-you-can-eat Sunday lunch. Lastly, get your chippy fix at Oliver’s out past Basingstoke Common. Tuck into their award-winning fish and chips in their licensed café or get your cod to go with last orders until 10pm daily.

Cafés

Housed in the huge Festival Street Shopping Centre, the Festival Street Kitchen is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat after your retail therapy. Serving up a wide range of burritos, burgers and Tex-Mex dishes, the pop-up kitchen and café uses local produce to create their zingy dishes, the perfect pick-me-up after a hard day pounding the pavements.

Just as laid back and relaxed is Poppins, an all-day café that does one of the best big breakfasts in town and just a minute’s walk from our Basingstoke Town Centre hotel.

Slightly out of the town centre, Aingels Cafe Bistro is one of our favourite places in town, as good at serving up excellent flat whites and freshly made slabs of cake as they are delivering perfect poached eggs and vegan treats.

Rounding out our selection is Kitty’s Tilted Teacup Tearoom. As the name suggests, this is the purrfect place to indulge your sweet tooth. The cakes are Bake Off show-stopper standard, while they’re also open for breakfast, lunch, brunch, afternoon tea, milkshakes and a fine range of boutique tea and freshly ground coffee.
