Getting Around

Just 15 minutes away by car, bus or train from Ayr, Glasgow Prestwick Airport is a decent-size international airport that flies to dozens of destinations, including Ibiza, Rome and Barcelona. You can make your travel even easier by staying the night before or after your journey at our Ayre/Prestwick Airport hotel.

Around 41 miles from Ayr, Glasgow Airport is the largest airport in the region with international and domestic departures and connecting flights across the world. The cheapest and most direct way to travel from the airport is by train, taking just under an hour with no connections, while driving will take around 45 minutes. You can always book in to stay the night before at one of our hotels near Glasgow Airport.

Opened in 1886, Ayr Train Station has four platforms and regular services to Glasgow, Girvin, Stranraer and Kilmarnock. There’s a café, shop and ticket counter in the station, and it’s about a mile from our Ayr Racecourse hotel.
