Restaurants
There is a strong Mediterranean theme with our first two restaurant recommendations in Ashford, and for good reason. That reason is because there are two eateries here that will stand up with the best Italians you have ever had. The first of which is Amici on North Street, just a short walk from the Ashford Museum. Opened by two couples who bonded over their love of good food, the menu here contains classics such as Tagliatelle Carbonara and Bolognese, which are made with ingredients sourced directly from Italy.
In the same bracket, and not too far away on Bank Street, is Trattoria Romana. Their menu is a little bit more extensive, with popular dishes such as Lasagna featuring alongside a plentiful selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian choices. It is worth leaving some room for their Tiramisu, too.
If you fancy something more adventurous when heading out for a meal in Ashford, look no further than Po Thai. Centrally located on Bank Street, you can choose to eat in or take away from this place. Our recommendation is to take in the atmosphere as the chefs cook delicious Southeast Asian meals fresh to order. Massaman curry is a safe bet, as are the green or red curries. But if you fancy pushing your culinary boundaries a bit further, ask the staff for a recommendation and enjoy a truly authentic Thai meal.
As the name suggests, Everest Inn is a great restaurant serving up the best food that Nepal has to offer. Award-winning Chef Pandey is renowned for his fantastic Indian and Nepalese dishes, some of which you may have tried before, and others you are likely to have never heard of. Along with the rest of our recommendations, this restaurant is in the town centre, and easily accessible from any of our Ashford hotels.

Cafés in Ashford
Cafés
On the western edge of Ashford three miles from the town centre, the Footprints Cafe Bistro might not look like much from the outside, but the food inside is excellent and very well priced. Plus, not only do they do coffees, cakes, breakfast, lunch and their infamous Sunday roast, they’re also part of the Singleton Environment Centre, a sustainable venue housed in 15 hectares of woodland.
Part of the Park Mall Shopping Centre in the heart of Ashford, The Little Teapot is a wonderful café dedicated to the finer things in life – namely tea, coffee and cake. A family-run licensed café, they also serve up a wide range of breakfast and lunch options, making it the perfect post-shopping and exploring hangout in town.
If you’re in need of a pure caffeine hit, Stag Coffee comes highly recommended. An independent outlet that serves up some of the best lattes, flat whites and espressos in town, they’re well known for their weekend brunch (hello pancake stack!) and are handily located halfway between County Square and Park Mall for your post-shopping pick-me-up.
Lastly, The Blue and White Cafe is well worth the short drive from our Ashford Central hotel. An up-market café packed with homemade cakes, the smell of freshly-brewed coffee and their excellent Sunday roast come the weekend, it’s a popular hang out on the edge of the Kent Downs and a short drive off the M20.
