DU-VAR check! We’re trialling new sleep tech to stop duvet hogging this summer

It’s official – we’re a nation of duvet hoggers! We recently conducted a survey to find out about bad sleep habits across the UK, and 29% of those we asked have an easier time sleeping when they’re not sharing the bed with their partner.

Some of the worst bedtime habits included snoring (48%), passing wind (16%) and, of course, duvet-hogging (12%). A fifth confessed to duvet-hogging, and many said they argued with their partner about who gets more of the duvet twice a week. With 21% of those asked being kept awake on a regular basis, and 56% admitting that bad bedside habits are a relationship dealbreaker, it’s clear that a solution is needed.

Inspired by the famous VAR football tech, DU-VAR uses state-of-the-art sensor technology to capture the movement of a duvet in real-time, alerting duvet hoggers when the covers have gone over the half-way line and giving them the opportunity to get back on-side!

This innovative sleep tech has landed just in time for an action-packed season of football in 2024.

As our research found that 10% can’t sleep the night before their team plays an important match – and as we’ll be welcoming tonnes of football fans this summer across our UK hotels and our hotels in Germany – we wanted to do our bit to help everyone sleep better.
