The Coronation of King Charles III will take place next week in Westminster Abbey – and we couldn’t be more excited! We conducted a little royal research ahead of the big weekend to see just how the nation is planning to celebrate.
Our survey of 2000 adults found that 17% of people across the UK are planning to head down to the capital for the Coronation – not only are attendees willing to travel an average of 100+ miles to see the big moment, but 18% would even consider camping out in the city to get the best spot to see King Charles.
Our Bank (Tower) hotel has had a royal re-brand – introducing the Cor-Inn-nation!
With the big day just around the corner, we wanted to do something special to celebrate King Charles III – and all the wonderful people travelling into the capital to be part of history this May! In honour of the Coronation, one of our most popular hotels in London has had a re-brand!
What better way to commemorate the occasion than by giving one of our most popular hotels in London a royal rebrand! Our Premier Inn London Bank (Tower) hotel on St Mary at Hill – which is just a short walk away from iconic London landmarks like The Shard and the Tower of London – will be transformed into the Cor-Inn-nation hotel, complete with new signage and a guard at the entrance.
Simon Ewins, our Managing Director at Premier Inn, said:
"Millions of people across the nation will be celebrating the Coronation, with many visiting the capital to celebrate this momentous day in person. It promises to be one of the city’s biggest days of the year, and we wanted to mark the occasion in a special way by re-naming one of our central London hotels for the special event."
"As some of our hotels near the Coronation route are selling out in minutes and many of our hotels expected to be really popular, we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of well-wishers to our venues in the capital over the weekend.”
Our survey revealed some further royal stats – more than one in five of those asked have travelled to London for a royal event in the past, including Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, and Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday celebrations in 2016.
As for the Coronation, 41% of those who plan to travel say it’s a great opportunity for the country to come together. 39% want to be part of this historic occasion, while 34% are just looking forward to a fun day out!
A whopping 29% will be keeping their eyes peeled in case they meet a celebrity or a royal, and 26% think they might get a chance to appear on TV, according to the OnePoll.com figures.
It also emerged that 32% of all adults polled said the extra bank holiday is what they’re looking forward to most about the celebrations – nearly one in 10 will be going to a street party, and 14% will use it as an opportunity to spend time with family.
Simon Ewins added: “We hope we’ve done our bit to help put the nation in a good mood.”
