Top trending global beaches
Our research revealed that Beachwalker Park in South Carolina (USA) is the world’s most coveted beach to visit. Located on Kiawah Island, the beach offers 10-miles of idyllic coastline and is one of the few beaches not privately owned there. With sun loungers and umbrellas available for hire, many people flock to enjoy the soft sands, tranquil Kiawah River, and local dolphin sightings.
The USA boasts four beaches in the top 10, with Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina, and two Californian beaches - Santa Monica Beach and Rockaway Beach – all making the rankings.
South Korea’s Iho Beach in Jeju City takes the second spot for top trending sandy spots. Famous for its horse-shaped lighthouses, the beach is home to characteristic chalk-coloured sand, which offers a luxury softness under foot. Visitors to the sunny destination will be treated to breath-taking red sunsets, making this the perfect picturesque spot to add to your bucket list.
In third position is Punta della Suina Beach, Italy. Famous for its golden sands and secluded coves, the Punta della Suina Beach is located in Gallipoli, affording visitors glorious sunset views out over the bay and Sant’Andrea Island. While some sections of the beach have dedicated resorts where you have to pay to reserve sun beds and umbrellas, it also has a large stretch of beach that you can enjoy for free – which is even open to dogwalkers!

From white sand surf spots to turquoise lined coves, these destinations match even the very best stretches of sand worldwide during the summer.
West Wittering Beach
Located near the town of Chichester, West Wittering Beach in Sussex is the UK’s top trending beach destination for this summer. Top trending global landmarks
Whether it’s natural phenomena or mind-bending architectural feats, landmarks frequently feature on our bucket lists, inspiring wanderlust from avid travellers everywhere.
India’s Taj Mahal comes first globally as the top trending landmark, with a staggering number of users dedicating Pinterest boards to the ivory-white mausoleum. Its stunning architecture is a regular feature amongst pinned pictures, showing the building reflected in the crisp water of the pools at its forefront.
The famed Burj Khalifa takes second place in the rankings. With its 828m height, the skyscraper is the tallest building in the world, sitting in the heart of Dubai and amassing an astonishing number of visitors each year. Regularly being shown in front of clear blue skies or the bright lights of Dubai at night, it’s no wonder so many travellers are pining to see the famous spot.
Machu Picchu in Peru – one of the Seven Wonders of the World – takes the third spot in our rankings. The famous citadel lies on the equally popular Inca Trail and is a must-see on many bucket lists, with iconic stone walls and glorious panoramic views across the canyon from the peak.

Stonehenge
A prehistoric British landmark, Stonehenge was named a World Heritage Site in 1986. The towering stones attract over 800,000 visitors a year, with many people across the world hoping to see the Bronze Age assembly. Pinterest boards show the sun peering through the stone formations, making it the most popular landmark to see in the country.
Big Ben
Big Ben is one of the most instantly recognisable landmarks of the capital’s skyline, regularly being the subject of many social media posts from tourists on weekend breaks in London. With the tower obscured by scaffolding since 2017, renovation work finally finished on the landmark in spring 2022, with the clock tower once again being fully visible to sightseers, clearly fuelling travel inspiration for this summer.
Buckingham Palace
Home to the British monarch, Buckingham Palace is another iconic UK landmark. With dedicated Pinterest boards showing the beautiful grounds and stunning architecture, Buckingham Palace secures itself as the third most trending landmark in the UK – a must-see for any tourist.
Top trending global road trips
While exploring a city on foot is a great way to take in the sights on a smaller scale, embarking on a road trip allows you to get off the beaten path, covering greater ground and taking in more sights enroute. There’s no shortage of famous road trips such as Route 66 in the USA or Australia’s Great Ocean Road, but there are also many lesser-known road trips that’ll treat you to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
The top trending road trip and most popular for holiday inspiration is the Road to Hana in Hawaii. This scenic road trip takes a route through the northeast coastline of Maui on the Hana Highway, one of the most beautiful highways in the world thanks to its picturesque landscapes. We would recommend booking a bus tour operated by one of the many local tour companies, as it tends to be a safer way to enjoy the sights.
The Great Ocean Road in Australia cements itself as the second most popular road trip in the world. Known to provide one of the most breath-taking views globally, the Great Ocean Road route takes visitors along the south-west coast of Victoria, treating them to views of secluded beaches, sprawling countryside and jagged cliffs. Road trippers can visit the 12 Apostles and hot springs, whilst constantly catching sights of famous Australian wildlife.
The only British route to make the top ten road trips list is Scotland’s North Coast 500, which comes in third. The route takes visitors along a 516-mile loop beginning and ending at Inverness Castle around the north coast of Scotland. Treating visitors to many areas of the Highlands, it has often been referred to as the ‘Route 66’ of Scotland and has grown in popularity since its launch in 2015.

North Coast 500
Ranking as the third most popular road trip globally and the top trending road trip in Britain, this 516-mile road trip (from which it gets its name) showcases the very best of what Scotland has to offer; historic fishing villages, secluded beaches, moody mountains and rugged cliffs make up this route. The round trip can take up to five days, although we’d recommend allotting more time to take in the sights and explore nearby Islands via ferry.
Snake Pass
The Peak District’s Snake Pass route scored position two for the most popular British road trips, behind the globally trending North Coast 500. A hill pass route through the Derbyshire section of the Peak District, this road is elevated at 512m above sea level, and runs from Glossop to Sheffield. Although the route treats its passengers to stunning views out to Manchester and beyond on a clear day, the road can be subject to high winds and slippery conditions, so care should be taken in adverse weather conditions.
Kintyre 66
Securing its position as the third top trending road trip in the UK, Scotland’s Kintyre 66 takes visitors on a 66-mile circular route around the Kintyre peninsula. Looping through some of the most remote areas of Scotland, this route is one of the newest established in the country. Launching in 2021, it allows users to take their time and relax through the route with options to veer off the track on ‘spurs’ and explore areas in greater detail, before returning to the main route.

We looked at the number of boards for each beach, destination and road trip route and then combined this with Google searches relating to each. Irrelevant boards were manually excluded. For certain destinations, the country name was also used e.g., "Black Forest Germany" to ensure the results were as accurate as possible.
