The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham

The Commonwealth Games are a celebration of sports of all shapes and sizes. While the Commonwealth Games have their origins in the British monarchy and the nations of the Commonwealth, the heart of the Commonwealth Games has always been about co-operation, community and a shared interest in sport, teamwork and athletic excellence.
 

The Commonwealth Games will be held between 28th July – Monday 8th August across venues in Birmingham, as well as in Coventry, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Cannock, Wolverhampton and Sandwell.

There are four separate cycling events at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Cycling mountain bikes will be held on the rocky climbs of Cannock Chase Forest, our Premier Inn Rugeley hotel is about a 5-10-minute drive or a 20-40-minute bus ride away. The cycling road race event will start at St Nicholas Park in Warwick, our Premier Inn Warwick hotel is only a seven-minute drive away or 25 minutes on the bus. There will be four marathons at the Commonwealth Games 2022, and you can stay ahead of the competition by booking at one of our hotels close to key points in the races. All four marathons will follow the same route, starting at the Smithfield Centre, through to Centenary Square, past St Phillip’s Cathedral before finishing at Victoria Square. There are four marathon races at the Commonwealth Games 2022, all on Saturday 30th July. You’ll need a ticket to watch at the start and end of the games, but the route crosses famous landmarks in Birmingham like Centenary Square, the Jewellery Quarter, St Paul’s Square and St Phillips’s Cathedral.
