Take the leap this February

With this limited-edition package**, couples who book a room to stay on Saturday, February 29 2020 with the intention of popping the question, can enjoy this romantic occasion with the addition of a token engagement ring, bottle of bubbly, a Premier Inn breakfast and a cluster of heart-shaped balloons all as part of the room price.

It is often suggested that an engagement ring should cost three times a monthly salary, meaning a hefty price tag for would-be betrothed couples with the average annual salary in 2019 coming in at £36,611^. According to new Premier Inn research^^, the most favoured places Brits have been proposed to include Arthur’s Seat, Durdle Door and Brighton Pier, but if you’re not quite ready to take the leap and just fancy a romantic weekend away, there are thousands of rooms across the UK available from under £35 -you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to take your loved one. Here are a few of our suggestions.

The legend
According to an old Irish legend, an agreement was reached between St Brigid and St Patrick allowing traditionally gendered roles to balance out: women could propose to men and therefore change customary engagement rituals on the leap day.

Summary
The package includes a wooden token engagement ring, a bunch of balloons, a 75cl bottle of Prosecco and a Premier Inn breakfast for two. All items to be received on arrival by arrangement with the team.

Only 29 packages are available. Those wishing to be considered for the package must make a room booking for Saturday, February 29 2020 and send details of their room booking to premierinncompetition@whitbread.com. The successful applicants will be the first 29 eligible entries (those with a room booking on Saturday, February 29) received to the above inbox and then contacted to arrange further details by Monday, February 24 2020.

   The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and non-negotiable and there is no cash alternative. The prize is not to be sold or used for commercial purposes.
    
5. If you have booked a stay in a Premier Inn hotel for Saturday 29 February 2020 then you can enter the prize draw, by emailing premierinncompetition@whitbread.com providing your booking reference and quoting “Proposal Package”. No purchase is necessary.
   
   
6. The draw opens on Friday, February 07 2020. The closing date for entries is 23:59 on 23 February 2020. Entries received after this time will not be valid.
   
   
7. The first 29 emails received will be offered the prize on 24 February 2020 by email.
   
   
8. The winner may be required to participate in future publicity.
   
   
9. The Promoter does not accept responsibility for loss of entries through technical fault, or for incomplete or illegible entries. Submission of entry is not proof of receipt.
