Louise Casey, one of the brilliant team members at our Premier Inn Warrington Central hotel, ran an indoor marathon through her hotel to raise money for the NHS and Great Ormond Street. Louise covered 26.2 miles (525 laps of the hotel) in 4 hours and 37 minutes, raising an amazing £1,145.

During the initial stages of the coronavirus lockdown many of our hotels have temporarily closed to the general public, with only a few kept open for NHS staff and other key workers. Even when they’re closed, our hotels still need dedicated team members, like Louise, to keep them ticking over so they’ll be in tip top condition when it’s time to re-open.

As a member of Widnes Running Club, Louise really went the extra mile on her night shift on 17th April. Her marathon began at main reception, continued along the first floor and past the front of house before looping back to reception, repeated over 500 times. This may well qualify her for a Guinness World Record.

Louise had this to say about her accomplishment: “Because of the virus, a lot of people in the club are running around in circles in their gardens. I thought to myself, I might try to run a marathon indoors at work.

“We’re closed at the minute, but six of us are doing night shifts to man the building. Instead of sitting there all night twiddling my thumbs, I ran a marathon. After that, I went and got showered, put my uniform on and carried on with the night shift.

“I couldn’t walk afterwards, but I did it.”
