80% of us want to explore more of the UK

The results are in! Last month, we asked 3,000 UK adults to take part in our poll and according to the survey, a massive 80% of people want to get more out of the country – with a third feeling as though they’re not making the most of what the UK has to offer.

Why not start by visiting one of the country’s most overlooked attractions?

There’s no shortage of options when it comes to short breaks in the UK. Only 3% of the people we surveyed felt a lack of interesting things to do, while 8% confessed to not really knowing what’s on offer. Surprisingly, the weather isn’t to blame, either – just 15% of our poll said that they prefer to go abroad in search of hotter weather.

London was voted as the UK’s favourite getaway location, with 86% of adults escaping to the capital for a short break in their lifetime. But there are plenty of places further afield that the majority of people in the UK have yet to discover. Of those who took part in our survey, 67% have yet to enjoy a cruise on Windermere, 54% haven’t admired Stonehenge and 83% still need to tick Titanic Belfast off their must-see list. Over half have yet to visit Liverpool or Bath, and just over 40% still need to explore the bright lights of Blackpool, the excitement of Edinburgh and the sights of Cardiff.

But it’s not just the country’s famous attractions that people are missing out on – our survey also revealed some of the most overlooked attractions in the UK. 59% of our poll have yet to explore the beautiful Kew Gardens, while 71% of those asked haven’t visited the exciting Drayton Manor Theme Park in Staffordshire.

Beatrice Vears at Premier Inn said:
“It’s great news that the vast majority of us recognise the wealth of wonderful attractions and beautiful locations the UK has to offer. It doesn’t take much to put together a memorable short break in the UK. All you need is a desire to explore and a comfortable, great value place to stay – the country does the rest!”
