"OK value for money, great location"
Budget for a reason, small room but fine for what we needed. Great location for both old and new town. I parked outside no issues (free with blue badge) Room has decent sized bed, bathroom and a TV. View from our window wasn't great but did let in plenty of natural light. Storage OK providing you don't need much hanging space, probably only 3 coat hangers in the room. Some concern about cleanliness, particularly the bathroom and extractor fan, mold and dust present.
"Good on the outside…."
We attended the hub by premier inn over the weekend for our visit to the royal highland show. The first impressions when entering the reception and bar area were positive. Once we got our room key to drop our bags off we learnt that the blind was broken. The blind was left in a pile on the floor, which obviously not reported by house keeping while cleaning the room. We were promised by reception that the blind would either be fixed or the window covered by the time we got back so we would not get woken in the morning with the sun shining in. We were then told we would get a different room the following day due to us being out the whole day. We were fine with this. We then returned to the hotel room later that day to discover the blind had not been touched at all. The following morning I spoke with the same receptionist mentioning that I was very disappointed as the blind had not moved since the morning previous and the light woke us up extremely early. He went on to explain that we booked in to a standard room and there weren’t any standard rooms for us to move into. I then went on to advise that surely if the blind was broken in our room before us entering that we should be moved room regardless of the type of room. He agreed and we arranged to move rooms later that evening. I was extremely disappointed with the service and the lack of sympathy in this situation considering the price we had paid for our room. The cleanliness of the rooms could also be improved. The shower its self needs a deep clean. And it was the same in both rooms!
"Avoid"
The staff is pleasant and the food is great. However, my room had constant loud water noises due to awful sound proofing of the pipe and wall. My assumption is that the main drain ran through my bathroom and whenever someone above me used their sink, shower, or toilet, I would hear the water rushing and gurgling down the pipe at a very loud volume, keeping me up all night.
"Great value and great location"
This hotel was a great value. Conveniently located with clean comfortable rooms. They served a good breakfast and had free coffee all day. The hotel is a short walk from the Waverly Station ad a stones throw from the Royal Mile. As a solo I wanted to feel safe returning at night and this location fit the bill.
"Convenient"
Not the best experience we've ever had. Convenient city location for trains/access to airport so it worked. However, digital check-in at reception was patchy and didn't activate the door keys. If you are going to automate access at the expense of a friendly face, at least make sure it works. Every time. Room was comfortable though we were unable to get air-conditioning to work. The bar was unmanned for the whole of our stay.
