Take part in a beer festival

If you’re heading to the city in late September or early October, then you should definitely head over to Cannstatter Volksfest, Stuttgart’s annual beer festival and travelling funfair. While not quite as big as Oktoberfest in Munich, it’s certainly an impressive event to visit. Almost all attendees dress in traditional Lederhosen and Dirndl dresses, the stalls sell various flavours of classic German wurst sausages and the local beers are served in huge frothing mugs. Enjoy the live acts and join in with well-loved local drinking songs around long wooden benches – Prost!
