History of Goodwood
Goodwood House and Goodwood circuit both have a rich history in the motorsport world dating back to the 50s, but the Festival of Speed was started back in 1993, when Lord March wanted to bring racing back to this iconic British venue. Now, the annual hill climb near Goodwood House attracts world-famous driver and over 100,000 visitors, making it one of the most popular events in West Sussex. The site also hosts the Goodwood Revival, a celebration of the glory days of the iconic track featuring vintage cars, historic aircraft and period clothing!

Dates: Though the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival has already taken place for 2024, the iconic festival will be returning in 2025, exact dates are yet to be confirmed.
Duration of Goodwood: Goodwood festivals usually take place over three or four days – the Festival of Speed in July and the Goodwood Revival in September – with a full timetable of events running from early morning till around 6pm.
What’s on at Goodwood
The two biggest events at Goodwood are the Goodwood Festival of Speed – a motorsport celebration which hosts some of the best race cars and drivers in the world – and the Goodwood Revival – a racing festival which features classic cars and period outfits from the 50s. At both Goodwood events, you can look forward to static aircraft, air displays, iconic motorsport vehicles and fun activities at Goodwood House.
Getting to Goodwood
If you’re planning on getting to one of the Goodwood festivals using public transport, Chichester train station is just a 10-minute drive from the motor circuit, and there’s even a shuttle bus service which takes you straight there. If you plan of doing any cycling in Chichester while you’re visiting for the event, you’ll be pleased to know that our West Sussex hotels are bike friendly, and you can store your bike safely in your room.
