Watford (Croxley Green) hotel

I chose this Premier Inn because the location was perfect for taking my two kids to the Harry Potter Studio Tour after a long day. While the rooms were fine and the location served its purpose, the dining experience was honestly awful. The Restaurant: The dinner options were very limited. The atmosphere felt more like a local pub for "regulars" rather than a hotel restaurant, which felt quite intimidating for a family with children. To make matters worse, the whole area smelled of stale, uncleaned alcohol, so we didn't feel comfortable eating there and had to source food elsewhere. The Breakfast: We pre-booked breakfast, but I wish we hadn’t. Cold Food: All the "hot" food was stone cold, and the plates were freezing. Poor Service: Basic essentials like butter and ketchup were nowhere to be found, and I had to keep walking around the floor just to find someone to help. Even the kids said the food wasn't nice and didn't want to eat it. Milk Issues: Only blue milk was available. When I asked for green, I was just given the tiny UHT cartons you get in the bedrooms. As a Premier Inn guest, you expect a certain standard of reliability. If you can’t present a basic breakfast properly or maintain a clean, inviting dining environment, you shouldn’t be offering the service. Great for a sleep, but avoid the food.

“Honestly, just avoid this place altogether.” Turned up and waited ages before anyone even appeared at reception. When someone finally did, she acted like she didn’t really want to do her job. We were given one room key and told the rest of the keys didn’t work, even though there were around 40 people still to arrive with no keys available, which was a joke. The self check in machine doesn’t even work properly either, so you’re forced to go to reception… where no one is there half the time. Overall, the reception staff just came across as lazy and uninterested. Room was passable at best, definitely not what you’d expect for the price. The room was super hot as well and made for a bad night’s sleep. Breakfast wasn’t any better. The food was cold, and the coffee machine didn’t even make a hot drink. I tried putting through both a cappuccino and an espresso together and it was still super cold. The apple and orange juice are kept right next to the hot food, so they’re warm as well. You end up having to put ice into a tiny little glass just to make it drinkable, which is a joke. Would not stay here again.

Arrived. No staff. Reception area smelt of cannabis. Room ok (paid for plus room). Breakfast really bad. Cold tomatoes, bacon cold cardboard, mushrooms cold, no sausages. Returned to member of staff who said “Oh, I’ll tell chef”. That was it.

I use premier inn’s all the time with my job ,this is by far the worst I’ve stayed at !! This morning no hot drinks no fruit ,had to ask for some juice ,I just left in the end with no breakfast or drink . The bar downstairs is like a zoo Never again .

This location has an issue with antisocial behaviour which disturbs visitors, especially late at night Upon speaking to reception staff, this has been reported to the police several times with little done to sort the problem. It seems security staff may be beneficial in this area. Not ideal when travelling with young children. Otherwise the hotel itself would be fine, it’s a shame your stay is impacted by these individuals
