London King's Cross hotel

Super helpful and friendly staff, thanks so much. Stored our bags and nothing was too much trouble for them. Great location too.

My cousin and I get together every September and have a few days in London - for the last 10 years this hotel is where we have stayed, and after a long day out, we have often eaten in the Bar and Block next to it. The hotel has always been clean, the staff pleasant, the rooms good and the food and drink nice. But this year has made us totally rethink our plans. We checked in on Wednesday 23rd - we arrived early, so checked our bags in and headed off for the day. When we came back later, we were checked into our room - number 8 - it was small, not even a chair, no hairdryer and the air con stank, and there was only one towel. Because we were tired, we just went to the restaurant attached to eat. The service was terrible; we waited ages to be served, and then the food was just OK, even though there was no one in the restaurant. This used to be a Bar + Block, and so the food was good, atmosphere busy and a nice place to eat. This time the food was average, the atmosphere dead, and the service slow. In the morning we went to reception to mention the aircon, the hairdryer and the towels. To say the woman on reception was rude, is an understatement - she just glared at me, said nothing and then turned to the girl next to her and said 'get maintenance to sort' - that was it - no apology, no smile, in fact - zero conversation. We headed off for the day, and then when we came back to our room there was one more towel and a hairdryer; the aircon seemed ok. We could not open our window as it overlooked the bins and was clearly the cigarette bay, so there were constantly people shouting, and that night they woke us up even though our window was closed at 4 am, shouting and screaming. We decided to just have dinner in the hotel again as we had been out all day. Again, the restaurant was quiet and seemed to be covered by a mixture of bar staff and reception staff. We ordered our food, and they brought out the wrong thing. When we told them, they said we could keep it, but they would bring what we ordered. This was prawns and salad, but it was actually an entire lettuce and 3 prawns - totally inedible. Whilst we sat having our dinner, 3 members of the staff, who were on shift, were sitting at the table behind us, slagging all the other members of the team off and as you could see through to reception from where we were, it was largely directed at the reception staff, but they went through them one by one - so unbelievably unprofessional. When we came to pay for our meal, they had tried to charge us for the items they had got wrong, and I had to argue to get it removed, and then I had to argue to have a discount, due to the wait and the error and the poor quality of the prawn dish. This hotel is in such a good location, but my opinion of it now is that it is tired, the bathrooms need updating, and the staff are very thin on the ground and don't seem to care. Getting rid of the bar + block is also a mistake because there is now zero reason to eat there with such poor food and no atmosphere. Add to that, the staff were rude to us and then indiscreet about each other; it seems that a hotel that could be the flagship for Premier Inn is nothing but a bitter disappointment. 10 years of loyalty lost in one awful visit. We shall not return.

The best hotel.if you have an early Eurostar train. This is our 4th time staying here and it is always a good choice. Good value for money also. Strongly recommend this hotel.

This place is an absolute dump!!! First of all they don’t have A/C and they don’t disclose that in booking. All staff does is give you a fan and say open the windows. Good luck sleeping with all that street noise and no screens on the window. The room is filthy. The tub didn’t drain. And there is a years long list of complaints like this. They will happily offer to get you a room at their sister facility for the increased rate. BAIT AND SWITCH!!! SHAME ON THEM!!!

Perfect location for kings x The expected room and breakfast. London prices so more than usual but the location is what you pay for. Down side the online check in did not work
