Reading South (Reading Gateway, M4/J11) Hotel

Stayed in this Premier Inn many times before, the cleaning has gone downhill, the lifts need a good clean walls and mirror all smudge and dusty. Corridors skirting very dusty, in the bedroom the bathroom grout was mouldy and the bathroom door frame had coffee splatter. The walls could do with repainting especially in the bathroom as it is peeling away. Bed was comfortable this time. Normally have a warm welcome and some of the staff already recognises us from previous stays but this time was a different staff member no problem there but not very friendly, didn't feel welcome like previous occasions. For £80 a night I expected better cleaning standards.

On our way to Devon from Suffolk/Norfolk border we stopped the night at Reading Gateway. Our room was a Premier plus and we were very comfortable not least with fast broadband, comfortable chairs and new bathroom. we took Premier Inn’s special ‘meal deal’ and wish to thank Adeline for making us welcome and Daniel for cooking our evening meal. ( My wife and I agreed that the Spring rolls were the best we had ever eaten! ) We look forward to stopping over at the end of our holiday.

Aditi at front desk was very helpful. Only issue was that room wasn't cleaned although we did ask for it to be cleaned.

I had an accessible room due to degenerative disc disease and arthritis. So standing to shower is extremely difficult. Although the low level bath was easier to navigate than a normal bath, no seat was provided. If you are being to provide a bath, then surely you must consider a seat and a way of getting a people in and out of the bath?? Also, in the bathroom both emergency pull cords were wrapped around rails and inaccesible. These should be accessible from floor level, in case of a fall! In the bedroom, the emergency pull cord was once again, not accessible from the floor and was only reachable from one side of the bed, with absolutely no emergency call option on the other side of the room. At breakfast, the eggs were over done due to sitting under the heat lamp for too long. Otherwise my stay was good. Staff were polite and helpful. All areas of the hotel were clean and tidy. The room was extremely confortable. Would definitely stay again if the bath situation was different.

Easy access near the M4 and not far from Reading town centre by bus. Very friendly staff both at reception and at breakfast. The room was spacious clean and comfortable.
